My plan for this week.
So, here is a new week. My plan for this week is as follows:
Monday= I will use websites and book to buff up my pronunciation and speaking techniques.
Tuesday= Start writing some basic characters, and do some stroke practice.
Wednesday= Go to Georgia State and have my usual session with tutor.
Thursday= Basically, Thursday will be review again whatever I did with my tutor on Wednesday.
Friday= This will be a more relaxed day, I wont do much intensive work, except update my blog and so forth.
Any questions?

New tutor, Two Lessons and various other things
I have a new tutor now, since the Emory one did not pan out. Her name is Xiaoyan Xie, and she is a student at Georgia State. I have now had my second session with her an the results have been tremendous. I now know how and what I need to study in order to become proficient in Mandarin. She has had me practice very basic tones and words to start to get the hang of things, and I suspect this will continue for sometime. Right now, I am learning the 4 tones and the Shengmu list, which is a list of the characters that are used in every character set in Mandarin. i will include a link if i can find it.

The past couple of weeks.
The past few weeks, I have not been keeping up with my blog, That's really do to the fact that I have had so much intense mandarin learning, that I have really not had the time. So, it wont happen again, but it was not through a lack of effort. Anyways.
I have made a lot of progress these past couple of weeks. My tone pronunciation is very good, and I'm beefing up my vocabulary as well. The writing portion is a little more difficult, due mostly to the intense amount of time it takes to practice the different strokes. With regards to finding and practicing with a tutor, I have located a senior at Emory who is fluent in writing and speaking. I am going to set a for sure time once a week for myself to go to Emory and meet with him. Tomorrow, I will set up my study plan for the week.

Week 2, but really my first week all things considered
okay, well this is my first full week working on mandarin. now I know I said last week that I was going to try to have the basics down. This has prove to be more difficult then I originally thought, the real problem that I am having at the moment with mandarin is this. the tones are really tough to remember and to form. My second dilemma is this, I can use these audio book and sound out the words all I want, but how do I know that I am doing the sounds and tones correctly. So the main thing I need in order to get my speaking abilities to where I need them is a tutor. So I have made contact with a number of different universities and people. now i am waiting for responses and i will go from there.

Well, this is my first week studying mandarin and it is proving to be as tough as I imagined. These next couple of days are going to be spent gathering material and resources that I need. After that I will draw up my study guides and begin learning in ernest.
